Because USAO is test-optional, follow this timeline only if you plan to submit scores or want to qualify for the Regional University Baccalaureate Scholarship, which requires an ACT 30+. Take your first SAT or ACT by the spring of junior year, then use the summer before senior year for retakes. With USAO’s September 2 Regular Decision deadline, an August retake is likely the last safe option, and fall retakes will generally be too late.
